Ponty launch rainbow kit in support of NHS
While the current season has been brought to an abrupt end due to the outbreak of the covid-19 virus, cancelling the remaining fixtures of the Indigo Group Premiership and the inaugural cross border competition with Scottish clubs, Pontypridd RFC has been working hard behind the scenes with the preparation and launch of a new kit for the 2020/21 campaign.
In light of the superb work being carried out by our Welsh NHS services, the club has decided to launch a limited-edition kit in tribute to the NHS which will be used for the entire season.
Following the kit launch there will be ongoing support for the Health Service as Pontypridd RFC has chosen the Welsh NHS and specifically Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board as its chosen charity and will undertake various fundraising activities during the 2020/21 season.
The new jersey is an iconic Pontypridd RFC design which is instantly recognised throughout the rugby community from the club’s epic Welsh Cup victory over Neath in 1996. The limited-edition kit has a distinct NHS rainbow theme to reflect support for all front-line health workers.
Pontypridd Team Manager Dan Godfrey commented on the new kit launch: “I am very proud of Ponty Rugby showing its support for the NHS. The last few weeks have been challenging for us all I’m sure. This cause is very close to my heart as my wife is an NHS frontline worker.
“We at Pontypridd see ourselves as the cornerstone of Valleys rugby and striving to bring our supporters and the wider community together in these difficult times.
“The launch of this new kit will mark the beginning of a new era at Pontypridd RFC and for Welsh Rugby in general. We are looking forward to the 2020/21 season with its new challenges once this worldwide pandemic is finally over.”
