Richard Langmead - Team Manager

Former Pontypridd RFC outside half Richard Langmead is returning to the club, to take up the vacant position of senior Team Manager.

During his playing career, Llantrisant born Langmead represented his home town club, also Treorchy, Llantwit Fardre, Pontypridd and Merthyr, and during that time achieved the status of being ranked amongst the top ten record points scorers in Welsh club rugby.

During his time with Pontypridd, between 2003 and 2006, Langmead put in 52 appearances for the club.

Following his retirement as a player in 2007, Richard Langmead took up a coaching role with Old Illtydians RFC in Cardiff, working alongside another former Ponty player, Matthew Lloyd.

The 35 year old Langmead, who works as a manager with GE Carpentry Ltd, now makes a welcome return to Sardis Road, taking over the team manager’s position recently vacated by Wayne Cullen.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back into the thick of things with Ponty” said Langmead. “Once you’ve been involved with the club, you know what a great institution it is, and know the calibre of people working for the club.

“It was an opportunity not to be missed when the team manager’s position became vacant. Since hanging up my boots, I’d always had ambitions to get into the management side of rugby, and I remember when I left Ponty, saying to Wayne that when he eventually left, I’d be in for his job! It’s great to have that opportunity now”.
