Sardis 7’s 2023 – preparations almost complete

The 2023 Sardis 7s tournament is now only just over five weeks away – the three-day tournament will take place at Sardis Road from Friday 4th to Sunday 6th August 2023.

The exciting news is that the list of teams partaking over the three days is almost complete, we can now confirm that we will be welcoming the following sides to Sardis Road for the event –

Cambrian Welfare RFC, Llantwit Fardre RFC, Newbridge RFC, Brecon RFC, Abercwmboi RFC, St Peters RFC, Durbins Devils, Carmarthen Warriors, Caldicot RFC, University of South Wales, Pick & Shovel, The Wrong Turn 7s, Cilfynydd RFC, High Motive Commandos, Pontypridd Youth, Cynon Crusaders, Beddau RFC, St Albans RFC, Abercynon RFC, Tondu RFC, Morrison RFC, Merthyr RFC, Rhydyfelin RFC and Pontyclun RFC.

Delighted with uptake in teams wishing to compete over the forthcoming weekend, Pontypridd RFC Director of Rugby Justin Burnell commented: “We are overwhelmed by the interest shown by the amount of community teams taking part in the Sardis 7s. The list of Teams and Clubs above have entered a minimum of one team, with some clubs entering teams in all 3 competitions.” 

A reminder that the schedule is as follows –

  • Friday 4th August – Youth Rugby 7s Tournament, under lights 6:00 – 9:00pm.
  • Saturday 5th August – Men’s 7s Tournament, midday – 4:00pm.
  • Sunday 6th August – U16’s 7s Tournament, midday – 4:00pm.

 

PLEASE NOTE – The Senior Men’s leg is fully booked, however, the tournament organisers are still looking for two more teams to enter the Youth leg of the competition on the Friday and two more teams to enter the U16’s leg on the Sunday afternoon. The fee is £50 per team, please contact Sardis7s@mail.com for all further details.

Aside from the rugby there will be lots going on in and around the ground including food stalls, face painting, raffle prizes, live music and much more!

The Saturday leg of the tournament will be followed by Wales v England on the big screen in the Clubhouse, and there will be a BBQ after the Sunday leg of the tournament.
