The University of Glamorgan has extended its partnership with Pontypridd Rugby Football Club, which will see the University sponsoring the club’s Grandstand at Sardis Road.
As part of the package of support, the University of Glamorgan’s logo will dress the stand, which will be known, as the "The University of Glamorgan Family Stand" for the coming season.
Gareth Howells, Sponsorship & Marketing Executive for Pontypridd RFC said:
I am delighted that an organisation as large and prestigious as the University of Glamorgan has decided to become a major partner of Pontypridd RFC, displaying both the club's and University’s ambition to develop their community links further. We hope we can now build on this partnership for the future and keep building on our links with the University - this is another excellent partnership for the club.
The University has a long standing relationship with Pontypridd RFC, with the club regularly using the University’s playing fields at Tyn Y Wern for training purposes over the last 10 years. Former Pontypridd players and Wales internationals, Ceri Sweeney, Mefin Davies, Gethin Jenkins and Kevin Morgan are all Glamorgan graduates. The Blues Academy is also based at the playing fields.
Dr Tudor Williams, Head of the Sport and Recreation Centre at the University of Glamorgan commented:
We are pleased to be continuing our long standing support of Pontypridd RFC with this formal partnership and the sponsorship of The University of Glamorgan Family Stand will give us a great presence at Sardis Road. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with the Club.
