‘Big Cat’ sighting at Sardis
Pontypridd supporters are being alerted to a police message issued this week concerning the sighting of a ‘big cat’ in the vicinity of the Sardis Road stadium.
It is believed that the animal is a fully grown panther that escaped from Bristol Zoo last weekend and then proceeded to catch a train to Cardiff Central where it was spotted on Platform 6 making its way up towards the Valleys.
A spokesperson for Bristol Zoo commented that the panther was originally from the Patagonia region of South America, and might now have set out to find some long lost relatives in Wales. The creature has been described as “big and black and of a friendly nature”.
Anyone sighting the big cat in the Pontypridd area, and specifically at the Sardis Road rugby ground, is advised to keep at a safe distance unless first approached by the animal itself, and then to communicate using basic Spanish or Welsh phrases.
