RGC v Pontypridd – match preview
After a three week break from action the Indigo Premiership resumes on Saturday 12th October with Pontypridd making the long trip north to face RGC. The match at Stadiwm Zip World kicks off at 2:30pm.
Both teams so far have a record of one victory from two games played in the league. Ponty had to battle hard to secure a 20pts to 17 home win over Carmarthen back on 21st September, whilst RGC on the same day went down to defeat at Llandovery by 29pts to 20. A solitary bonus point separates the two teams in the league table, Ponty in seventh and RGC in eighth position.
In the corresponding fixture last season Ponty edged a win in Colwyn Bay by 14pts to 18 in late April, cancelling out an earlier defeat at Sardis Road by 18pts to 32.
Ponty have drafted in some regional personnel for their trip north, Blues’ no8 Alun Lawrence in the starting line-up and scrum half Jamie Hill on the bench, whilst Dragons’ full back Morgan Richards is also brought in as cover.
Experienced prop Ross Davies makes his club debut, with another new recruit, lock Matt Davies amongst the reserves. Unable to travel due to domestic commitments are winger Alex Webber and outside half Diggy Bird.
