Premiership East round up – 09/09/17
Bedwas and Cardiff put clear daylight between themselves and the chasing Premiership East pack following the round of games played on the weekend of 9th September.
The action got underway on Friday evening as Newport claimed their first victory of the season, by 29pts to 27 at home to Pontypridd. The Valley Commandos gained some solace in defeat, with a try and losing bonus point to take away.
The following day Bedwas consolidated their status as league leaders with a fine 24pts to 37 away win against reigning champions Merthyr, Cardiff kept close on Bedwas’ heels, also registering a third consecutive win, by 17pts to 21 away to Bargoed.
Cross Keys were grateful to claim a first victory, by 20pts to 12 against Ebbw Vale at Pandy Park, consigning the Steelmen to bottom place in the table.
