Sardis Security
The lockdown period has put Pontypridd RFC’s Sardis Road stadium firmly out of bounds, but has also been put to good use to carry out important security work around the ground.
A group of committed volunteers led by supporter Simon Hughes have been carrying out daytime and evening patrols around the stadium during the lockdown to keep intruders and vandals at bay.
In a bid to make Sardis Road trespass proof, additional barbed wire fencing has been erected at both ends of the ground, and crucially, new cctv cameras have now been installed at strategic positions.
Funding for the camera installation came from the local Maesycoed and Pwllgwaun Neighbourhood Watch and from local Community Support police officer Warren Williams who ran the Liverpool half marathon in 2019 to raise money, for which the club is extremely grateful.
The camera installation was carried out by Rhys Griffiths of Security & Smart Technology whilst volunteers Simon Hughes and Martin Price have been busy putting up new barbed wire sections around the stadium perimeters.
Sardis Road remains a welcoming place for those who are supposed to be there. Unwanted intruders will now find it much harder to break in – those intent on causing damage will be caught on camera and reported to the relevant authorities.
