Player Blog – Ioan Evans
Last season is one I won’t forget in a hurry. It started off with me recovering from a shoulder operation, and then finished early because of a global pandemic.
It was disappointing that the season was cut short as it was my first at senior level and I didn’t manage to get much game time, but on a more positive note, it marked my debut for Pontypridd RFC, a club I have now played for at all levels.
I was looking forward to trying to establish myself in the team and gaining more experience alongside some great players and coaches, and also looking forward to experiencing some different styles of rugby with the end of season trips to Scotland.
During the lockdown period I have completed the first year of my Sports & Exercise Science degree at USW and it will be interesting to see how that progresses with online learning only until the new year.
I have also managed to keep up my personal fitness training, having a good selection of gym equipment at home, and getting out for some on-field running.
Hopefully we will get back to some sort of normality soon and the new season can get underway. I am looking forward to what will hopefully be a successful campaign alongside some old and new faces, challenging for honours and to stay injury free.
