Supporter’s Blog – Joe Davies
Despite all the current uncertainty in lockdown with no sign of rugby being played again, this is as good a time as any to wish all the best to my beloved Pontypridd RFC for the forthcoming 2020 – 21 season – whenever that will be!
I look forward to meeting back up with the many friends, supporters and acquaintances that make up this awesome club that we all love.
On the field I believe we just need some greater consistency in our level of performance, especially to find the kind of form that we attained in both the Cardiff games, home and away last season.
At one stage in late March early April I didn’t think I’d be around long enough to post this blog, after contracting the dreaded Covid-19 virus. I had no headaches or high temperature but had significant problems with my breathing which really pulled me down, with sleepless nights and a continuous cough. It took a double dose of steroids and antibiotics to put me right again and I’m so grateful to my doctors’ surgery and the NHS for everything that they did for me, the advice and the treatment.
Four months on and I am now recovering, although still with a tightness in my chest, but am able to set off on some long walks and appreciate life. My advice is for everyone to heed all the guidelines put in place, to stay home as much as possible, to keep your distance – this virus from hell has been sent to try us and is still around.
At least now I will be able to look forward to another season supporting the side that I’ve followed up and down the land and in Europe for more than fifty years.
C’mon the ‘Pont’ – let’s have another great season and hopefully get another chance to visit Scotland to cap off a successful Premiership campaign.
