Supporter’s Blog – Ceri Preece
As a former player and kit man and now a big supporter of this great club of ours (‘big’ being the appropriate word as I’ve put on a few extra pounds in weight as the years have gone by) the Covid pandemic hasn’t been kind to me. I still can’t believe that nine long months have passed by since I watched Ponty beat Merthyr up at the Wern, and I’m still not sure when I’ll be able to watch them again.
Its been a bit strange on the weekends these past few months, after forty-four years of going to watch Ponty week in week out. I have been dragged out to do some shopping by the missus (god I miss the rugby) and I have spent some time doing up my ‘memorabilia room’ and on that note I’m looking for a Phil John jersey if anyone can help…
It’s been a strange time during the coronavirus pandemic. Thankfully I have not been directly affected, although having had a couple of family members who contracted the virus, but thankfully not too seriously and employment wise, working for P&P Timber in Cardiff Docks, I have been as busy as normal.
As Christmas is now upon us I’ve sent my list to Santa and am looking forward to getting my VX3 Ponty RFC branded gear to wear when the rugby season eventually gets underway. As for the team I think we need a couple of more experienced half backs to complement the promising youngsters we have coming through, so we can keep playing the exciting brand of rugby we are known for.
More than anything I am looking forward to meeting up with all the friends I’ve made at the club over the years, but especially looking forward to Daf Lockyer leading out the team once more, ready for some rugby action.
Keep Safe
