Having played for his local club Caerphilly through junior and youth levels, Alex Knott departed to study at Trinity College, Carmarthen, before returning to play at senior level for Nelson in 2015.
Establishing himself as a dynamic and creative centre at Championship level, Alex Knott was invited to train with and play on permit for Pontypridd towards the end of the 2017 – 18 campaign. An impressive run of appearances led to a permanent move to Sardis Road the following summer followed by a call-up to the Blues A Celtic Cup squad in 2019.
Alex’s career with Ponty was impacted by a series of debilitating concussion injuries which entailed lengthy spells on the sidelines. He made 38 appearances with an impressive try tally of 16, which reflected his creative ability. A decision to retire early from the game came in the summer of 2021 allowing Alex to focus on his job as a primary school teacher.
