Premiership East round up – 23/09/17
There was a twist, not in the tail but at the head of the Premiership East table following the round of games played on Saturday 23d September as both Bedwas and Cardiff conceded their first defeats of the season.
Both matches were close fought affairs, with both Bedwas and Cardiff matching their opponents on try count three apiece and gaining losing bonus points. Bedwas went down to a 25pts to 22 defeat away to Cross Keys whilst Cardiff lost out by 25pts to 30 to Ebbw Vale at the Arms Park.
Pontypridd consolidated third position in the table with a 10pts to 29 bonus point win away to Bargoed, consigning their opponents to bottom place. Merthyr meanwhile settled their nerves following three consecutive defeats, claiming a high scoring home win by 43pts to 33 over Newport.
