Ponty Youth – cup game off, Newbridge friendly on
Pontypridd have countered the disappointment of having their Welsh Youth Cup first round tie away at Gwernyfed called off, by arranging an away friendly against Newbridge Youth on Saturday 30th September.
Gwernyfed RFC have pulled out of the cup fixture, therefore giving Pontypridd a bye into the second round.
Even at this early stage of the season, postponements have been the order of the day, with Pontypridd Youth having played only one competitive match – a home league win over Mountain Ash.
Ponty will now play a friendly against Newbridge Youth on Saturday 30th September, the match at the Welfare Ground kicking off at 2:30pm. This will offer a stern test as the Gwent side are currently top of the Dragons A League.
Ponty Youth will seek to maintain momentum from a home friendly victory by 52pts to 12 over Newport HSOB last time out.
