Match Preview – Llandovery v Pontypridd

Pontypridd are on the road again this week, heading north-west to play Llandovery in the Indigo Group Premiership. The match on Sunday 27th February at Church Bank Playing Fields kicks off at 2:30pm.

Despite a spirited second half display against Newport last Thursday, Ponty ultimately fell short by 36 points to 7. Two days later The Drovers edged a 79-point thriller, triumphing at The Wern to beat Merthyr by 43 to 36. Ponty know that only an 80 minute performance will suffice to get the W on Sunday.

Justin and the coaches have made changes to the team as well as drafting in two players on permit to bolster the ranks. The first being a familiar name to Ponty fans – Joe Popple who joins from local club Llantwit Fadre and the second, another prop, Garyn Daniels joins from Treorchy. Daniels will make his club debut should he come off the bench. In the pack, skipper Kris Parker moves across to lock and there are returns to the starting line-up for Ben Stephens, Rob Jones, Cai James and Sion Parry. Behind the scrum Cole Swannack moves from wing to fullback and there are returns to the XV for Joe Davies and Dai Jones.
