Newport product Dafydd Buckland was nurtured through the ranks of the Gwent Dragons Academy making an impression as a diminutive but dynamic scrum half.
His credentials were enhanced by selection for Wales under 20s during the 2019 Six Nations campaign, then in the age-grade World Cup, being nominated as man of the match in the historic victory over New Zealand.
Having gained Premiership experience with Newport RFC, Buckland departed the Gwent region in the summer of 2020 and joined up with Pontypridd in a bid to gain more regular game-time.
He joined Ponty in July 2020 but due to the covid pandemic had to wait a further 12 months to make his debut. He scored 1 try in his 17 appearances during his time with the club before departing in the summer of 2022.
