Match Preview – RGC v Pontypridd
All roads head north this Saturday 17th December as Pontypridd travel to Colwyn Bay to play RGC, the Indigo Group Premiership match at Parc Eirias kicks-off at 2:30pm.
The route to North Wales is becoming a familiar one for Ponty supporters, last season the club headed to Colwyn Bay on four separate occasions for matches against RGC – two of them ultimately being postponed due to weather-damage to Parc Eirias and then covid in the Ponty squad respectively.
Last season there were three matches between the sides, out of the two matches that were played up north Ponty won one in the Welsh Premiership Cup in January, and lost one in the League in April. In the sole game played at Sardis Road in October 2021, the Valley Commandos edged a 12-try thriller by 40 points to 38.
As we head into this week’s match Ponty will be hoping to replicate the grit, determination and confidence which earned the team a fine win on the road in their last away outing at Aberavon a fortnight ago – same again lads!
Team news –
We are currently in the middle of a deep-South Wales winter and the injuries, niggles and unavailability that it inevitably brings. As a result Ponty have made six changes to last week’s starting XV and there are three new faces on the bench.

In the forwards Morgan Bosanko starts at loose-head prop, Chris Dicomidis earns his first start of the season at lock and Joe Miles returns at no.8 after recovering from injury.
On the bench there are returns to the matchday squad for Tom Devine, Garyn Payne and Sam Hayman.
