Bon Voyage Ben
Pontypridd RFC would like to wish Ben Burnell well on his move to English Championship side Jersey Reds.
Ben has had two spells playing for Ponty whilst linked to the Cardiff regional academy and has impressed during both stints. He first joined the Club in the summer of 2021 and some fantastic individual performances earned him plaudits before a serious shoulder injury away at Merthyr in November 2021 put pay to his involvement for the rest of that campaign. Ben was re-allocated to Ponty in November 2022 for his second spell at the club and won WRU Man of the Match on his ‘second club debut’ whilst contributing to the team’s win away at Aberavon that day.
Speaking about his time at the Club, Ben said: “I have loved my two stints with Ponty and have made some great memories in the time I’ve been there. I can’t thank the coaches and players enough for welcoming me back this season and wish everyone involved the best for the rest of the season.”
Ponty Team Manager Dan Godfrey commented: “Ben has acquitted himself fantastically well when he has worn the Ponty jersey, and he has an old head on young shoulders. The coaches and players wish him all the very best in his rugby journey.”
Pontypridd RFC would like to thank Ben for his efforts whilst at the Club and wishes him every success on his adventure in the Channel Islands.
