Schools Festival launches Rugby Initiative event on Friday 10th November
The Pontypridd & Valleys Rugby Initiative will make a day of it on Friday 10th November, with a Schools Rugby Festival staged in the morning and afternoon leading up to the ‘Clash of the Titans’ event in the evening.
The Schools Festival will run from 10am to 2pm, with the following schools participating:
Alaw Primary, Maerdy Primary, Trealaw Primary, Porth Juniors, Cymmer Primary, Hafod Primary, Darran Park Primary, Cwm Clydach Primary, Ynyshir Primary and Pontygwaith Primary.
With some of the schools fielding two teams , it is expected that over 200 children will participate in the event.
Pontypridd Schools coach Justin Burnell commented: “ This is another example of how the initiative reaches out to the wider community in RCT.
“The boys and girls will get to be involved and will be given every opportunity to enjoy themselves regardless of their ability – it’s all about participation.”
Ponty Rugby Commercial Manager Emma Rogers added: “There are so many career prospects involved in sport these days, such as coaches, physios, analysts, nutritionists and more.
“The development pathway can hopefully offer the children choices that they may not have been aware of as they proceed through their education.”
Children participating in the Schools Festival will also form a guard of honour greeting the teams on to the pitch at the Pontypridd v Newport Premiership tie on Saturday 11th November.
