Sion Parry earns Canada call-up
Pontypridd RFC are delighted to announce the news that openside flanker Sion Parry has been called up by the Canadian National side for their upcoming tour to Tonga.
Sion, who qualifies for Canada through his Ontario-born mother, will be hoping to make his international debut when the Canucks play two tests against Tonga at Teufaiva Stadium on the 10th and 15 August 2023.
On receiving the fantastic news, Sion commented: “It’s a huge honour to be called up for international selection, a proud moment for me and my family. I’d like to thank Ponty for supporting me in this adventure. I can’t wait to get started.”
Ponty Team Manager Dan Godfrey is equally as delighted and said: “The club are over the moon for Sion. It’s a fantastic achievement to be called up to any national squad. His strong performances have stood out in the Premiership and the two Welsh Canadian coaches Kingsley Jones and Rob Howley have recognised this.”
As a club, we are absolutely thrilled for Sion and we hope to see him make his international bow next month – Llongyfarchiadau Sion!
