Lloyd Riley signs for Ponty

Pontypridd RFC are very pleased to announce the signing of number 8 Lloyd Riley from Rhydyfelin RFC.

The 20 year old played on permit for Ponty at the beginning of April against Cardiff University, and an excellent personal performance saw him bag a try before being awarded Man of the Match later that particular evening.

Lloyd is a former Pontypridd Mini and Junior player and joins the Club’s senior ranks for the 2024/25 campaign having helped Rhydyfelin to a 5th placed finish in Division One East Central last season.

On joining Pontypridd, Lloyd said: “I’m happy to be back at Ponty. It’s where I first started playing rugby back at under 9s and I played for the Mini and Juniors up until under 15s and it was always a target to be in the senior squad. I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead and I am buzzing to get started.”

Commenting on Lloyd’s signing, Ponty Forwards Coach Kristian Parker said: “Signing Lloyd is a real coup for us, with the attention he has gained. After seeing Lloyd perform in the end of season friendly against Cardiff Uni, we liked what we saw. He’s young, hungry and has a physical presence on the pitch. Being a local boy from nearby Rhydyfelin where he has also gone on to gain rave reviews, he fits the mould of a Pontypridd RFC player and we look forward to seeing him develop more.”

Croeso nôl, Lloyd!
