Llangennech v Pontypridd – Matchday Preview

Next up for Pontypridd RFC is a trip into Carmarthenshire to play Llangennech RFC, the Admiral Premiership match on Saturday 21st September at Llangennech Main Field kicks off at 2:30pm.

Saturday will herald the first time that the two clubs have played each other. The Bois y Llan earned promotion into this season’s Welsh Premiership having finished third in the Championship West table at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

Last Saturday Ponty got their season off to the perfect start with a hard-earned bonus-point win against Bargoed at Sardis Road thanks to tries from Oli Shepherd, Joe Davies, Cally James and a penalty try. On the same afternoon Llangennech suffered a 28-15 reverse at home against Newbridge.

The Admiral Welsh Premiership league table, accurate as of 16/9/2024.

There’s very little to read into the current standings at this very early stage of the season, however Ponty find themselves sitting in 5th position after last weekend’s victory.

GROUND INFORMATION –

Llangennech’s ground (pictured above) and their clubhouse are located in different, although close, locations. Firstly, the postcode for their ground is SA14 8TS and there is an overflow car park in the Owens Riverside Industrial Estate, which is the next left after their pitch.

Llangennech’s clubhouse is approximately 400 metres up the road from their ground – turn right after the Coop and go up over Church Hill – the postcode for this is SA14 8UB.

Saturday’s hosts have also erected a new stand which will be open on Saturday, and their pitchside bar will be open from 2:00pm onwards.

SUPPORTERS TRAVEL –

The Pontypridd Supporters Club are organising travel for fans to the match on Saturday.
