Ponty Schools – Dewar Shield champions!
Pontypridd Schools were crowned as Dewar Shield champions 2018 following an emphatic 46pts to 7 victory over Llanelli Schools at the National Stadium on Tuesday 1st May.
Ponty came out of the blocks strongly to dominate the first quarter of the contest, and utilised the wide spaces of the pitch well to play their natural expansive game.
Going into the interval leading by 24pts to 0 Pontypridd however found Llanelli to be obstinate opponents who never gave in from the first minute to the last.
Running in a total of eight tries, it was Pontypridd who took the honours to claim the Dewar Shield for the first time in twenty-two years.
Try scorers for Pontypridd were Ryan Watkins (3), Iwan Jenkins (2), Ben Burnell, Seb Thomas and Sam Davies, with Ben Burnell and Iwan Jenkins adding the conversions.
