Jake Thomas reaches the 150
Yet another Pontypridd stalwart will achieve a significant career milestone when flanker Jake Thomas runs out against Cardiff this coming Saturday 5th May.
Jake first played for the club on 28th August 2010 against Cross Keys and is now all set to make his 150th appearance. In that time Jake has scored 31 tries and 163 points.
Jake played his junior rugby with his local club Ynysybwl, following in the bootsteps of big brother Adam. He gained representative honours with Wales at youth level and was called up to the Blues regional age grade squads.
The Blues Academy placed him with Cardiff RFC in 2007, and Jake spent three seasons with the capital club, gaining further international honours with Wales under 20s. In the summer of 2010 Jake ‘came home’, and joined up with Adam at Pontypridd.
Able to play across the back row, Jake soon became a regular name on the Pontypridd team sheet. Unfortunately, an injury in 2013 kept him out of the game for almost a whole year, and another significant injury last season meant that he was again sidelined long term. He made a welcome return to the playing field in February, and having just recovered from a broken nose, finally makes it 150 not out!
Thank you, Jake, from everyone at Pontypridd, and good luck for the future.
