Premiership round up – 06/05/18
Merthyr strengthened their grip on the Premiership title as they secured a valuable away win against RGC on Saturday 5th May.
The weekend action got underway on Friday evening as Neath and Aberavon battled out their traditional derby clash, with the Wizards edging a 17pts to 18 victory.
In the Saturday evening televised match reigning champions Merthyr posted a 13pts to 20 win against RGC, pulling four points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand over second placed Pontypridd.
Earlier in the day Ponty had ground out an uninspiring home win over old foes Cardiff by 18pts to 8. Newport suffered from post cup final stress disorder as they went down to a 19pts to 35 defeat against Cross Keys at Rodney Parade.
Bridgend maintained a run of fine form by running out 68pts to 35 victors over Bargoed, whilst Llandovery put a dent in Carmarthen Quins title hopes with a 31pts to 24 win at Church Bank.
On Sunday afternoon Ebbw Vale secured a home win over Bedwas by the narrowest of margins – 19pts to 18.
