Ponty host Clifton in pre-season friendly
Pontypridd entertain English League Two South club Clifton RFC in their second pre-season friendly fixture on Saturday 17th August, the match kicking off early at 12 noon.
This will be the third consecutive summer encounter between the two clubs, with Ponty victorious in high scoring and entertaining contests on both previous occasions. In August 2017 Pontypridd claimed a 47pts to 26 home win in a match played at the Cilfynydd ground, and the following year won again by 28pts to 52 across the Severn Bridge.
Clifton finished the previous season sixth placed in their division with a record of twelve wins, one draw and seventeen defeats from thirty games played.
Ponty suffered a narrow 27pts to 33 home defeat against Premiership rivals Newport in their first pre-season warm-up game last weekend, and will again utilise an extended squad against Clifton as players are assessed in preparation for the coming league campaign.
The newly refurbished Pontypridd RFC Clubhouse will be open from 11am on Saturday, with the Clifton match kicking off at 12 noon. Supporters are invited to then stay on to watch the Wales v England World Cup warm-up game on the big screen, kick-off time 2:15pm.
Repair work on the electronic scoreboard at Sardis Road is on-going and should be completed in time for the next home friendly against Bargoed on Saturday 24th August – the club apologises for any inconvenience caused.
Ground entry to the Pontypridd v Clifton match will be charged at £5 access all areas, under 16s free when accompanied by a paying adult. This will be an ‘all-pay’ game for which season tickets are not valid.
