Captain’s Blog
The first quarter of the season is complete, it’s strange to think after such a long time away from the game that we’re back to where we belong, on the field, wearing the jersey. We’ve dived headfirst back into our regular training regimes and put all our efforts into building the future Ponty squad back up to its full potential.
I still can’t quite believe that I’m sat writing this blog. Captaincy has always been a goal of mine, but never did I think I’d achieve it this early in my career. I have been lucky enough to start my journey at Ponty with legends of the game who have prepared me as best they could have to not only lead the team, but to also develop myself as a player.
I’d be lying if I said we’ve had the best start to the season. We’re six games into the cup competition and although there have been wins which brought highs there has also been losses that come with huge lows. Those losses aren’t a sign of what’s to come and the small things that are tipping that score board are fixable obstacles that we are prepared to work on to ensure we achieve what we come to achieve.
We are a young side with tonnes of talent and potential and despite these young new faces, we have been determined to bond at every opportunity possible by putting our energy into getting to know each other well off the field so that this is reflected on the field. Every game we’ve played so far has been a learning opportunity for us and we are constantly trying to better ourselves and grow stronger together.
I should mention our appreciation for our fans who have not disappointed once again this season, showing your support both home and away, acting as our 16th man out there on game day. We are all a part of the same team.
We hope to hit the ground running against Ebbw next Saturday and continue to look forward bringing our energy and best game heads week in week out.
