Captain’s New Year Blog
Firstly, I would like to give a massive thank you to the sponsors, supporters, family and friends for the continued support throughout 2024. The time, effort and your love for the club doesn’t go unnoticed within the squad and management staff. So, a massive thank you again.
Looking back at the start of the season I could not have asked for a better start, currently sitting top of the league having lost one game and in the semi-final of the cup. As a group I know how hard the boys have worked and given endless commitment to what we are trying to achieve this season. We have had some real tough encounters and new tests like Llangennech and Bargoed away where we had to find a way to win, coming out on the right side of the scoreboard by one point. We are starting to mature as a group and we have made winning a habit, as well as having the maturity and pride to keep sides out where we didn’t concede a point to Newbridge and Newcastle Emlyn. This is testament to the work that the boys are putting in throughout the training weeks, as well as the coaches driving standards both in the training week and on a Saturday afternoon.
As well as playing well on the field I feel it is important that we have a social side off the field, where we grow friendships and build connections on a personal level and as a group. We have some real characters which have really lit up the social scene and we have enjoyed each other’s company off the field as well which is great to see and be apart of myself.
Looking forward to 2025, we have a real tough start away to Bargoed which as we know from the cup fixture will be a real battle. It’s important that we carry our momentum from 2024 into 2025 with a win at Bargoed. From a personal point of view, I hope we can continue with the form we showed in the backend of 2024, we showed some real character whilst playing some exciting attacking rugby and a hard-edge defensive system. From a league perspective I hope to be in contention for the title and fingers crossed we can get over the line against Newbridge to get a spot in the final of the cup. I’m still excited to see what this group could potentially achieve in 2025, see you all on the 11th of January!
Happy New Year!!
