Cardiff v Pontypridd – match preview
Pontypridd travel to face old rivals Cardiff in a Premiership East tie on Saturday 7th October, the match at the Arms Park kicking off at 2:30pm.
Just over a month into the new campaign this fixture already carries considerable significance, with Ponty holding second place in the table, one point and one position above Cardiff. Both teams so far have a record of four wins and two defeats.
In the one league game played between the teams last season, Pontypridd claimed a valuable 19pts to 23 victory at the Arms Park just before Christmas.
Ponty come into this match on the back of a 26pts to 12 home win over Cross Keys, whilst Cardiff went down to defeat by 18pts to 8 away to league leaders Bedwas in their previous outing.
Lock Josh Hawkins makes a comeback from injury for Ponty, with Sean Moore moving to the back row. Senior Blue Aled Summerhill moves in to the centre position with Alex Webber returning to take the wing berth. Wales u 20 scrum half Dane Blacker is meanwhile back in Ponty colours following a brief spell on loan with the Dragons.
