Club statement regarding the retirement of Chairman Roger Davies
The ambitions of talented players and the expectations of fanatical supporters are just some of the key components that have contributed to the historical and sustained success of Pontypridd RFC. However, the role and contribution of the volunteer is one that is often overlooked but is nonetheless an invaluable component that is worthy of mention, particularly when a club official such as the Honorary Chairman, Roger Davies, decides to retire from his position.
Roger’s association with the club as an official extends over a remarkable period of almost forty-five years, working purely for the love of the club. Such commitment cannot be underestimated. Over that time he has seen many changes in Welsh rugby and at Pontypridd RFC, from amateur to professional to semi-professional, and every year bringing with it new challenges.
Honorary CEO, Steve Reardon, commented: “There is no better example than the zeal, enthusiasm and professionalism with which Roger has pursued the many and varied roles including Chairman of Pontypridd RFC Supporters Club, House Chairman of Pontypridd RFC and ultimately Chairman of Pontypridd RFC and its associated Company, Ponty Rugby Limited.
“Roger’s decision to now retire to spend more time with his family is fully supported and well deserved. On behalf of all associated with Pontypridd RFC, the Board of Directors wish to thank Roger most sincerely for his dedication and endeavour and wish him well for the future. Of course, we all look forward to seeing Roger continue his association as an avid supporter of Pontypridd RFC and to seeing him at Sardis Road for many years to come.”
Thank you Roger.
