Early season injury update
There are a number of injuries great and small besetting the Pontypridd squad during the early part of the new season.
Flanker Jake Thomas remains the one long-term absentee, due to undergo an operation on his troublesome knee at the end of September, with a rehabilitation period of six months or so to follow.
Centre Jarrad Rees has his leg in a cast following ankle ligament damage incurred in the pre-season friendly against Clifton. A further assessment will be made once the cast is removed.
Another player who has missed the start of the new campaign is flanker Ross Morgan, yet to make his Ponty debut with a broken arm, with another month on the sidelines expected.
Further scans will meanwhile be required to determine the full impact of a niggling groin strain suffered by centre Gary Williams during pre-season.
There is more positive news to report on lock Lee Evans and prop Keelan Marney who are now back in training following achilles tendon and foot injuries respectively.
