Coming up through the ranks of his local club Rhydyfelin, Justin Marshman represented Pontypridd Schools at under 11 and under 15 levels before joining up with Ponty Youth.
Whilst still a Youth player Justin was called up to play for the Pontypridd seniors in a friendly against Coventry in 1990. Over the following two seasons he went on to make seven club appearances as a full back or winger before returning to play for Rhydyfelin. He also turned out for Bargoed and finally Cilfynydd before hanging up his boots.
