Ins and outs of the Ponty squad
There have been some mid-season adjustments made to the Pontypridd squad, with one player departing as another arrives.
The new signing, already familiar to Ponty fans, is promising young centre Declan Williams (pictured).
Treorchy product Williams came up through the Blues age grade and academy systems, and was capped by Wales at under 16 and under 18 level. As one of it’s regional allocation he first linked up with Pontypridd in 2016 and has already made 13 appearances for the club.
The latest of those came as a newly recruited Ponty player, coming off the bench in the away defeat at Merthyr last Friday. Having been previously released by the Blues Academy Williams spent six months playing for Balmain RFC in Australia before returning home and signing up for Pontypridd.
As Declan Williams becomes the newest Pontypridd recruit, veteran lock Lee Evans has been released by the club. In two stints at Sardis Road since first joining in 2003, Evans has totaled 133 appearances and has made a sterling contribution as an abrasive and fully committed back five forward.
