Llandovery v Pontypridd – match preview
Pontypridd travel to face Llandovery on Saturday 7th December, the Premiership tie at Church Bank kicking off at 2:30pm.
Ponty have climbed to second spot in the league table, buoyed by a 31pts to 7 home win over reigning champions Merthyr in their previous run out. The Drovers lie back in ninth position, eight points adrift but crucially with two games in hand.
In seeking to maintain momentum in their title challenge Pontypridd will have to avoid a repeat of last season’s result in the corresponding fixture – a heavy 48pts to 24 reverse.
The latest injury absentee for Ponty is prop Ben Stephens, out with rib damage, whilst fellow prop Ross Davies has been away on leave. Ben Warren is drafted in from the Blues Academy as tight head cover. There is a welcome return from long term injury for hooker Rob Jones who is also on the bench.
With flanker Morgan Sieniawski away on Wales Sevens duties and Alun Lawrence returning to the Blues, there are changes to the back row unit with Lloyd Evans and Sion Parry called up to start.
