Match Preview – Llandovery v Pontypridd
Pontypridd travel to Church Bank Playing Fields to play Llandovery for the second time in two weeks on Saturday 12th March, the match kicking off at 2.45pm.
It’s a change of competition and focus this week for Ponty, the match being the last tie at the quarter final stage of the Indigo Group Premiership Cup – the winners will play Aberavon in the semi finals.
Ponty will go into the match taking confidence from their impressive 34-18 win at Church Bank just two Sundays ago. But conversely The Drovers will be out to avenge that defeat and with the stakes being high it promises to be a ferocious battle between the two clubs.
There’s a few changes in both the Ponty starting XV and on the bench, including some positional. In the pack there’s a return at hooker for Ieuan Morris and at blindside flanker for Cally James. Behind the scrum Dafydd Buckland starts at scrum-half and Ceri Morris switches from 12 to 10, with Garyn Payne coming in to start at inside centre. Cole Swannack switches from wing to fullback which allows Jac Davies his first start for the club wearing the 14 shirt. On the bench there are returns for Morgan Bosanko, Joel Raikes and Jack Walker.
The Pontypridd team selected to play Llandovery is as follows:
15. Cole Swannack. 14. Jac Davies. 13. Bradley Roderick. 12. Garyn Payne. 11. Dale Stuckey. 10. Ceri Morris. 9. Dafydd Buckland
1. Ben Stephens. 2. Ieuan Morris. 3. Tom Harper. 4. Kristian Parker (c). 5. Chris Dicomidis. 6. Cally James. 7. Sion Parry. 8. Joe Miles
