Match Preview – Llandovery v Pontypridd
Pontypridd travel to play Llandovery RFC on Saturday 10th September in the Indigo Group Premiership. The match at Church Bank Playing Fields kicks off at 2:30pm.
The clubs met twice in the space of two weeks last season, both matches at Church Bank. On the 27th February 2022 Ponty achieved an impressive 34-18 bonus-point win in the league. A little over two weeks later on Sunday 12th March, Llandovery took the spoils by 12 points to 3 in the quarter-final of the Premiership Cup.
Pontypridd make five changes to the starting XV that took to the field against Cardiff last Saturday. In the backs Garyn Payne, Jake Lloyd and Chad Davies come into the side for their first starts of the season. Chad Davies, on permit from Glyneath RFC, makes his club debut on the right wing with Niko Matawalu moving to fullback.
In the forwards Tom Devine and Cai James earn starts having come on from the bench last week. Prop Garyn Daniel is drafted in on the bench, his sole Ponty appearance to date coming in last season’s win at Church Bank.
