Match Preview – Pontypridd v Swansea
Pontypridd welcome Swansea RFC to Sardis Road on Saturday 21st January, the Indigo Group Premiership match kicks off at 2:30pm.
The two clubs met earlier in the season, on Saturday 1st October at St. Helen’s and the home side enjoyed a 45-22 win back in the autumn, although Ponty did leave West Wales with a 4-try bonus point as consolation.
The last time the All Whites visited Sardis Road was nearly four years ago on Friday evening 15th February 2019. Ponty won 31-19 on an evening that almost seems like a lifetime ago after everything that has since proceeded that season.
Both Ponty and Swansea will be looking to get back on the winning trail on Saturday after the two teams suffered defeats last weekend.
The Team News…
The list of walking wounded, unfortunately for Pontypridd, is growing – Ben Burnell and Tommy Morgan have joined Cally James, Niko Matawalu, Joseph Scrivens, Rory Harries and Lloyd Rowlands in the treatment room. However, Chris Dicomidis is back fighting fit.
Ponty have made four changes to the starting XV that took to the field at the Brewery Field last Saturday. In the backline Jordan Howells returns to start at inside centre and we are excited to announce a club debut for German International Jamie Murphy at outside half.
Up front Garyn Daniel is drafted in at tight-head prop and Chris Dicomidis starts at lock having recovered from injury.
On the bench outside half Matthew Lewis and centre Garyn Payne return to the matchday squad.
We’d also like to reserve a special mention for Ben Stephens and Rob Jones who both play their 50th matches for Pontypridd RFC on Saturday – well done lads!
