The young Pontypridd side got off to a flying starting as winger Danyl Davies scored a quick fire double with Rhys Morgan converting both tries.
The Lockyer Select XV then hit back with a couple of tries with rampaging back rower Nathan Strong amongst the scorers.
Lock Josh Hawkins got his name on the score sheet for Ponty with a powerhouse try but the Select XV had a trick up their sleeve when a thirty man line-out was called, driving over for an excellent try converted by Dai Flanagan bringing up an interval score of Pontypridd 28 Lockyer Select 19.
The try-fest continued in the second half with tries for Owen Williams, Craig Locke and veteran former Wales international Dafydd James for the Select XV. Pontypridd tries in response came through back rowers Sion Edwards and Ross Barnes and live wire outside half Jordan Rees.
One of the biggest cheers of the afternoon was reserved for prop Joe Popple who tried to follow on from his try against Cross Keys the previous week with a conversion attempt which sailed agonisingly wide.
A match that showcased the Ponty past and gave an encouraging glimpse of the Ponty future was a perfect celebration for Dafydd Lockyer on a glorious afternoon in front of s sizeable crowd at Sardis. The game fittingly ended in a draw – 45pts apiece.
