Matchday Preview – Llandovery v Pontypridd
This Saturday 11th February Pontypridd travel to play Llandovery at Church Bank Playing Fields in the Indigo Group Welsh Premiership, the match kicks off at 1:00pm.
The match was originally due to take place at the start of the season on Saturday 10th September 2022, but it was postponed as a mark of respect following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II a couple of days before.
The two clubs met twice in the space of a fortnight at Church Bank last season. On Sunday 27th February 2022 tries from Ceri Morris, Cole Swannack, Dale Stuckey and Kris Parker earned Ponty an impressive 34-18 bonus-point win in the league. Then on Saturday 12th March, Llandovery took the spoils by 12 points to 3 in the quarter-final of the Premiership Cup.
This season Ponty and the Drovers only played each other a little over four weeks ago in the league at Sardis Road, and the away side took the W back to West Wales after a 23-12 win. The two clubs had a week-off from action last weekend, but both will be heading into this Saturday’s match having claimed wins in their last outings two weeks ago – Llandovery secured a good, hard-earned win at home against Ebbw Vale by 20 points to 15 whilst Ponty enjoyed a brilliant bonus-point win away against Aberavon.
