Matchday Preview – Pontypridd v Pontypool

Pontypridd RFC get their pre-season preparations underway this Saturday 12th August when we welcome Pontypool RFC to Sardis Road, the friendly match kicks off at 2:30pm. It’s a switch of focus back to the 15-a-side game for Ponty following the Sardis 7s last weekend when many of the squad had a good run out.

As a Club we are looking forward to welcoming Pontypool RFC and their supporters back to Sardis Road for the first time in nearly 12 years. At the end of last season Pooler sealed a deserved promotion back to the Welsh Premiership following an 11-year absence. The last time Pontypool visited Sardis Road was Saturday 5th November 2011, the home side ran out 32-17 winners that afternoon. Later in the season the two clubs will meet in the Welsh Premiership on 21/10/2023 at Pontypool Park and then on 27/1/2024 at Sardis Road.

This Saturday’s friendly match will be a good opportunity for Pontypridd to ramp up team intensity ahead of the league season – for Ponty there will be a mixture of existing squad members, new signings and trialists on show looking to impress over the duration of the afternoon.

SUPPORTER INFORMATION:

Tickets – Admission on the day will be £10 access-all-areas and under 16’s free if accompanied by a paying adult – tickets only available on the day. Please note that Gold Card Members and Lifetime Membership Cards will be valid and can be collected from the Club before the match.

Club Shop – The team’s brand new home shirt will again be available to purchase before the match and throughout the afternoon.

Live Sport – The Clubhouse will be open from midday and we’ll be screening live Rugby World Cup warm-up matches later in the afternoon – England v Wales, 5:30pm kick-off and France v Scotland which kicks off at 8:05pm.

Please Note – Due to the Family Fun Day event at Sardis Road the following day, no cars are allowed to be left in either car park at the ground – vehicles left are at the risk of being towed away.
