Media Team update
As the 2024/25 pre-season approaches for Pontypridd RFC, the Club’s Media Team can confirm its personnel ahead of the new campaign, and in doing so we’d like to welcome a new member into the squad.
The Media Team continues in its primary role to provide a link between all the different departments at the Club to relay all the latest news and events to our supporters, and the wider world. Geraint Thomas continues in his position as head of the club’s media and to aid the aforementioned link, his media role doubles him up as a member of the Ponty RFC Club Committee – a group of hardworking volunteers who are tasked with the day-to-day running of Pontypridd RFC.
Geraint continues to be flanked by a terrific team around him, firstly the Club’s former Media Officer Guto Davies. Despite handing the baton over to Geraint three seasons ago, Guto remains heavily involved in media activities at the Club including producing the club’s matchday programme and the content therein as well as being part of the team that contributes and produces the Ponty Rugby Radio Show, that is aired on local station GTFM.
Partnering Guto in producing content for the Ponty Rugby Show is Iestyn Thomas. Iestyn joined the Ponty Media Team 18 months ago and combines his Radio Show interviewing with writing the team’s match reports.
Tom Davy, Ten2Two design and print, continues his hard work behind the scenes as the club’s graphics editor, which includes producing the branding for the business. Another long-standing member of the team is Dr Alun Granfield, who continues in his role as club statistician and historian.
Anyway onto the new, and as mentioned at the start of the article we have a new member of the team that we would like to introduce to you all. We are very pleased to welcome Bailey Wright as the Club’s new official photographer. Bailey is a qualified nursery nurse from nearby Rhydyfelin who also has her own photography business Bailey Wright Photography. Bailey, by her own admission has always had an interest in rugby having grown up around the sport. She’s also not a stranger to Sardis Road having shot a number of USW matches at the home of Ponty RFC in the not-so-distant past. Bailey will be a vital component in the Club’s Media Team and I’m sure you will all extend our welcome to Bailey during the team’s pre-season schedule.
