Merthyr v Pontypridd – Match Preview
Pontypridd travel to The Wern to play Merthyr RFC this Saturday 13th November. The round eight tie in the Indigo Premiership Cup Eastern pool kicking off at 2:30pm.
It’s now the business end of the competition with only a few rounds remaining. There’s only one place separating the two teams in the pool – Ponty sitting 3rd on 18 points with Merthyr just one place and one point behind in 4th on 17 points.
Pontypridd won the first ‘Valleys Derby’ of the season 21-14, back on Saturday 2nd October 2021 at Sardis Road.
Ponty make four changes to the XV that beat Ebbw Vale last weekend – Dafydd Buckland, Sam Evans, Jack Pope and Tom Harper all coming in to take their place in the starting line-up. There are also wholesale changes on the bench.
Chris Dicomidis is away on international duty with Cyprus who take on Croatia this Saturday – go well Chris.

Merthyr RFC are hosting an Armistice Service on the pitch ahead of the big match. The service, to pay a mark of respect to all our fallen soldiers in the two World Wars will involve both clubs and commence at 2.15pm. Spectators are advised by the host club to gain early attendance into the ground for this event.
