Oli Shepherd signs for Pontypridd

We are very pleased to announce that Oli Shepherd has signed for Pontypridd RFC ahead of the Club’s 2024/25 campaign.

Oli, who is born and bred in Reigate, Surrey, can play outside half, centre or fullback – such versatility will no doubt be an invaluable asset for Ponty throughout next season.

The 19 year old is another member of USW’s first team and like teammate Dan Cotterell links up with the Club having spent the second half of last season as part of Pontypridd’s wider squad. Oli has in fact already made his debut for the Valley Commandos, that came away at Merthyr back in February.

The Dorking RFC product made his debut for the club in RFU National 2 when he was 18 years old, and has also represented his county at U17 and captained them at U18 levels.

Oli with another USW teammate Dylan Kelly made their debuts for Pontypridd at The Wern on 3/2/2024.

On linking up with Ponty for the 2024/25 season, Oli said: “I’ve really enjoyed and benefitted from training with Ponty so far and I am looking forward to taking my next step in my rugby career with them next season.”

Teammate and Coach Kristian Parker commented: “It’s great to have Oli onboard full time, he made his first appearance last year away at Merthyr and was probably unlucky not to get another. With Oli coming through our university links with USW, it only further enhances that relationship and shows that the pathway has huge potential and something we are very thankful for. We look forward to seeing what Oli can do in the black and white.”

Croeso Oli!
