Parker doubles up with players’ accolade
Pontypridd lock forward Kristian Parker has hit double top by being nominated as Players’ Player of the Season in addition to his selection as Supporters’ Player of the Season.
The double award reflects on a successful first season at Sardis Road for Parker, who joined up with Ponty from Ebbw Vale last summer. A model of consistency in his 18 appearances he never failed to give his all for the cause, bringing a hard edge to the Pontypridd forward unit.
His exploits were obviously appreciated by his fellow squad members as their collective votes gave him the accolade of Players’ Player of the Season.
Another who greatly values Parker’s contribution is Pontypridd Director of Rugby Justin Burnell.
“Kristian’s achievement is remarkable” commented Burnell. “He’s done it the hard way, serving his apprenticeship with Llantwit Fardre then on to Beddau and Ebbw Vale. He’s now 28 years of age and has earned his reward in playing with such consistency for Pontypridd.
“He’s very durable, a typical workhorse, rarely misses a training session and can cover the second row, blindside flanker or No8 positions all with equal ability. What you get with Kristian is what it says on the tin, a player who gives his all for the cause. He’s a big part of what we’re trying to achieve at Pontypridd and fully deserves his Player of the Season awards.”
