Pay to Park goes live on the 5th of May

The club has identified an income stream and is focussing on commuters who pay to park every day. By charging £1.90, for all day parking, commuters can make substantial savings compared to other parking facilities available in Pontypridd.

We also have an ongoing issue for many years with visitors parking outside the 37 parking bays, with some blocking emergency vehicle access to the ground. We have tried to resolve this through dialogue. It gets better for a short while and then a few weeks later returns to inconsiderate and in some cases dangerous parking. These vehicles will receive a £100 ticket from the parking enforcement company as the safety of our players, staff and supporters is our priority. We will not apologise for that, park irresponsibly – get fined.

Some of you may remember the club used to charge for an annual car parking pass for people to park for many years. This was not sustainable due to the passes needing to be checked on people’s dashboards every morning. Due to advances in technology this can now be automated via a camera and number plate recognition.

The new system is cashless, and payments are made via an app. The QR code of the app is on the bilingual signage along with operational hours displayed at the entrance to the car park and on the exterior of the clubhouse wall facing the car park.

How does this affect club players, supporters, visitors and volunteers?

  1. If you have an arrangement in place on a Saturday to park, then this arrangement remains unchanged – you will still park without charge.
  2. On away day Saturdays people can still park for free. If you are leaving your car to travel away with the club, there is no charge on a Saturday.
  3. There is a grace period of 1 hour. Therefore, if you are popping into the club to drop off or pickup an hour should do the trick. If you need longer then enter your vehicle registration into the tablet inside the clubhouse.
  4. Volunteers, players and other authorised people can register their vehicle registration(s) in the club office and once verified will be added to the ‘no pay’ list.

To reiterate, this is an income generation project to use underutilised resources and resolve dangerous parking. It will not impact on our loyal supporters. We would welcome any further questions which can be sent to tickets@ponty.net
