Pontypridd v Aberavon – Match Preview
Pontypridd host Aberavon in the Indigo Welsh Premiership on Saturday 29th January, the match at Sardis Road kicking off at 2.30pm. Due to a covid restriction-induced hiatus which wiped out the Christmas and New Year schedule, it’s Ponty’s first league match for 7 weeks – our last outing in this competition being a win against Carmarthen Quins last December.
The Wizards have also endured a ‘break’ in their fixture schedule having not played since December 18th last year themselves. Ponty are coming off the back of a very good win away at RGC in the Premiership Cup last weekend and will be looking to take that momentum and build on it against the men from the Talbot Athletic Ground who have been one of the most consistent teams in the Welsh Premiership over the last few seasons.
Ponty have made a few changes to the XV that took to the field in Colwyn Bay last Saturday, mainly rotational. In the backs Joel Raikes comes back in to start at scrum-half. In the pack Nathan Huish, Cally James and Kris Parker come back into the starting line-up, Parker taking over the captaincy.
The Pontypridd team selected to face Aberavon is as follows:
15. Llywarch ap Myrddin. 14. Morgan Richards. 13. Bradley Roderick. 12. Ceri Morris. 11. Dale Stuckey. 10. Jake Lloyd. 9. Joel Raikes
1. Ben Stephens. 2. Nathan Huish. 3. Morgan Bosanko. 4.James Little. 5. Chris Dicomidis. 6. Kristian Parker ©. 7. Cally James. 8. Joe Miles
Subs: 16. Ieuan Morris. 17. Tom Devine. 18. Tom Harper. 19. Jack Pope. 20. Cai James. 21. Sion Parry. 22. Garyn Payne. 23. Dafydd Buckland
