Pontypridd v Cardiff – Match Preview

On Saturday 24th August Pontypridd RFC play Cardiff RFC in a pre-season friendly at Sardis Road, the match kicks off at 2:30pm.

Cardiff’s last visit to Sardis Road was on the opening day of last season’s Welsh Premiership campaign, which was Saturday 2nd September 2023. Garyn Smith scored midway through the second half before replacement centre Will Keep’s last-gasp effort levelled the scores at 19-all. Unfortunately Joseph Scrivens’ conversion attempt from the touchline drifted wide and both clubs had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Pontypridd have enjoyed three good pre-season work outs to date against Abercwmboi, Tenby United and Cinderford. But the Valley Commandos will no doubt know that old foes Cardiff will bring a whole new level of challenges this Saturday afternoon. Whereas Ponty have got the aforementioned three pre-season matches under their belt, this weekend’s fixture will be Cardiff’s first run out ahead of the new season.
