Powerhouse lock Matt Davies joins Pontypridd

Pontypridd have made a significant addition to their forward unit by signing powerhouse lock Matt Davies from London Scottish.

The Maesteg product was a member of the Ospreys Academy and was drafted into the Wales under 20 squad, gaining Premiership experience with both Neath and Llanelli. A move to England followed, firstly to Clifton then to London Scottish at the commencement of the current season.

Seeking a return to his homeland, Matt Davies has now joined up with the Pontypridd senior squad.

Still only 21 years of age, Davies will offer added physicality to the Ponty pack, standing at 6ft 7in (2.01m)and weighing in at 19st 13lbs (126.8kg).

This latest signing follows up on the recent arrival of experienced prop Ross Davies to Sardis Road. It will be a case of two in, one out at the club as winger Aaron Grabham, a summer recruit to Pontypridd, has now been released by the club to seek his opportunities elsewhere.
