Premiership round up – 12/10/19
Cardiff and Aberavon were the only teams to maintain a 100% winning record in the Premiership following the round of games played on 12th October, the Blue & Blacks topping the table courtesy of an additional bonus point.
Cardiff had to battle it out to record a 17pts to 10 home win over Swansea, having led by 17pts to 3 at the interval, whilst Aberavon also won the hard way, by 16pts to 12 over visitors Newport.
It was a game of two halves also at the Brewery Field, where Merthyr staged a second half rally to pull back from 17pts to 0 down to a final score-line of 17pts to 12, still a shock defeat for the reigning champions.
Ebbw Vale recorded a comfortable bonus point home win over Llandovery by 37pts to 21, the kicking of Dan Haymond proving crucial.
RGC’s game against Pontypridd had a snake and ladders effect, the 26pts to 8 home win projecting the North Walians to third place in the table whilst Ponty dropped into a bottom five position.
Still rooted at the foot of the table are winless Llanelli, their latest reverse being by 28pts to 18 away to neighbours Carmarthen Quins.
