Premiership update – 25/03/18
Reigning Premiership champions Merthyr kept ahead of the chasing pack in the round of games played on the weekend of 24th March.
The action got underway on Friday evening as Cardiff continued their recent run of form with a 25pts to 3 home win over Aberavon, pushing the capital club up into third position.
On Saturday Merthyr recorded a 29pts to 15 home victory over Bridgend to maintain a three point lead over nearest rivals Carmarthen Quins, who impressively won away at Bedwas by 17pts to 31.
There was an upset in form at Parc y Scarlets where Llanelli saw off visitors RGC by 24pts to 6. Pontypridd slipped further down the table, losing at home to Llandovery by 10pts to 30 in a live televised game. Ebbw Vale ran in five tries to see off Swansea by 43pts to 3 but the whitewash was not crossed at Pandy Park, where Cross Keys won against Bargoed by 9pts to 0.
On Sunday Newport kept their title aspirations alive by recording a 48pts to 36 victory over bottom club Neath.
